I suspect those who have been diagnosed with cancer, or have been close to someone undergoing cancer treatment, understand what I mean when I reference the “cancer card.” Yes, that wonderful hybrid of a gift voucher and a “Get Out of Jail Free” card that is given to most people with a serious cancer diagnosis.
Hawaii Island is a better place because you are back here with us...thank-you for sharing your journey with us....beyond relieved that you're on the mend...warmest regards, Ron & Nanette
Your posts are so raw, authentic and beautifully written. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all. My husband was the one that started using the “cancer card”. He used it often, unabashedly, and often with good humor. The fact that he was in a wheelchair for his final year or so, elevated him to another whole level of CC. It was like a cancer care on steroids!
I suppose the secret is that everyone has a "get out of jail" card if we only knew how to use it. The "burdens" in our life are mostly things we created for ourselves. Most often nobody asked us for anything and we just made them up. A lot of them are commitments we made a long time ago and can't remember what the commitment was to. The "C card" is a flashy and obvious one we're given like an Amazon gift card but it's my humble opinion that we can give ourselves permission for anything any time so I printed pads of "self permitting" cards you can use: https://olab.systems/permits/HALP-SelfPermit-Permission.png
two years into fourth stage prostate cancer, the cancer card is truly earned...just went to Norway to see the northern lights...the cancer card is the golden ticket in international airports...was stopped in Frankfurt Germany airport because my radium treatments showed up on their radiation detectors...after pointing out that the areas highlighted were the areas that i have the cancer, I was given a "God bless" and escorted through the remaining process...very similar situation coming back into San Francisco airport...people want to help and it is in our and their best interest to welcome that help

Great perspective on receiving/giving.
One cell cycle after completion adjuvant trx I used a Vit A/E + glycine and low dose liquid Motrin swish and swallow..seemed to speed things along.
